Qualified overseas?
Podiatrists with qualifications from outside New Zealand
All overseas trained applicants must have qualifications from an Approved School.
Applicants from an Approved School holding a degree or diploma must have:
- graduated within three years of the date of their application for registration in NZ, and be registered in the country where they gained their qualification, or
- practised within the past three years of the date of their application for registration in NZ.
Applicants not trained at a Board Approved School must re-train in New Zealand for the 3 year degree of Bachelor of Health Science (Podiatry).
All overseas trained applicants must sit the Board's Open Book Examination as part of their registration process. The focus of this exam is New Zealand cultural competence and legislative requirements.
The Open Book Exam fee is $1,196.00 (and re-sit fee $393.00).

Annual Practising Certificates:
- You must be registered and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) to be able to practice in New Zealand.
- All first time APC applicants must hold a current CPR certificate to be eligible for an APC.
