Qualified overseas?
Podiatrists with qualifications from outside New Zealand
All overseas trained applicants must have qualifications from an Approved School.
Applicants from an Approved School holding a degree or diploma must have:
- graduated within three years of the date of their application for registration in NZ, and be registered in the country where they gained their qualification, or
- practised within the past three years of the date of their application for registration in NZ.
All applicants must sit the Board's Open Book Examination as part of their registration process. The focus of this exam is New Zealand cultural competence and legislative requirements. The Open Book Exam fee is $1,170.00 (and Re-sit fee $380.00). Further information is available when applications for registration are received, or on enquiry from the Registrar. Applicants may sit this examination in their home country if they wish.
Applicants not trained at a Board Approved School must retrain in New Zealand.
